We reached another Friday after another exhausting week. This week included Derek Chauvin's guilty verdicts plus two more black people shot and killed by police...or was it three? It's hard to keep track these days. I have a bunch of news stories to share that otherwise might have fallen through the cracks. And my guest today is Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, who scored a big win yesterday with her Covid Hate Crimes bill overwhelmingly passing in the senate.

Today, we get in the wayback machine and go back a decade. On April 26, 2011, I attended what was billed as a Town Hall Meeting with my then-congressman Allen West. I tried to ask him a question about his vote to privatize Medicare. Instead, I was arrested and brutalized at the Broward County Jail. Today, we hear my first show back, during which I recounted all the details. It was April 28, 2011.

The verdict was announced in the Derek Chauvin trial for the murder of George Floyd right at the top of the show, and it was good news. He was found guilty on 2nd degree murder, 3rd degree murder and manslaughter. Guilty on all counts. It doesn't bring George Floyd back, but it's a huge win for humanity. Jack Rice, friend of the show and a criminal defense lawyer in Minneapolis checked in briefly. And we hung with Driftglass too...
