For this week’s #FemFriday Nomiki Konst is joined by Dr. Jillian Jacklin to discuss the importance of de-stigmatizing migrants and the role the media can and does play in shaping negative representations of refugees. Dr. Jacklin is a Lecturer in Democracy and Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She is a historian of the United States and places her work in a comparative and transnational context. Her research explores interactions between workers and businesses, as well as the government bureaucracies and corporate interests that inform these relationships.

Dr. Littlejohn is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Oregon. Her work examines race, gender, and reproduction and she is particularly interested in social cognition and the consequences of meaning-making for sexual and reproductive behavior. Along with being an educator Dr. Littlejohn is also the author of the book Just Get On the Pill: The Uneven Burden of Reproductive Politics.
